Biography


During 17 years Kris Leys was working in a major Belgian bank as branch manager in different branches (banking and insurance), but never lost his passion for dogs. That is why he founded a Pet Care company iCare .
 
Although the hard financial world and the very emotional Pet world are very different he managed to bring both worlds together in a creative way to build a sustainable business.
In 2004 iCare launched an assistance package for dog owners in which a “free lost dog system” and a “dogsitter network” are the main features. (See www.icareformydog.be )
iCare was chosen by the Flemish government as an example of creative entrepreneurship in 2004 and Kris Leys was appointed as Flanders DC Fellow to give speeches about entrepreneurship and creativity in schools and innovative business environments.

He also developed activities as a consultant for Fortis Venturing (innovation vehicle) to launch new concepts and ideas of Fortis employees, by implementing new ways of thinking (out of the box) and creating an open mindset for entrepreneurs.
In the last years iCare became iCareformydog.be and in firm collaboration with Corona Direct (Dexia Group) a dog insurance was successfully launched in Belgium. (see www.hondenverzekering.be)

iCareformydog.be has become a specialised intermediary unit for pet information, pet assistance and pet services, accessible by means of a call center and through the Internet.
 
We provide our customers easy access to all necessary information for the well being of their pets.

The iCareformydog.be offer consists in:
 
- A puppy service which helps you to find the right dog for your lifestyle
- Pet assistance services such as a legal advice, holiday information, lost pet services, pet information search, phone aid and behavioral advice trough a callcenter available 24/7
- An intermediary role for pet services such as dog sitting services ( 30 franchisers in Belgium) 
- A Dog insurance which covers all veterinary costs of the dog and even some extensions like life insurance, theft and straying, holiday cancellation, advertising and reward, etc..
- Dog Body score test
- Monthly newsletter with practical information
- We provide our clients with one or two new innovative services every year.
